As a huge Emma Watson fan and a strong believer in gender equality, I am thrilled (just as many thousand other folks) to learn about Emma Watson’s new feminist book club, Our Shared Shelf. As part of her work with the UN Women’s Initiative and the HeforShe Campaign, Emma recently stated that she had read several wonderful books around the topic of gender equality and wanted a way to share, inspire, promote, and encourage more reading, discussion, and awareness of this topic—Hence, the idea to launch the book club.

Watson’s goal is to pick one book a month that highlights and supports feminism, strong female authors, and furthers gender equality in the US and abroad. In fact, her first book is Gloria Steinem’s book, My Life on the Road. Since it’s inception earlier this month, the group already amassed nearly 70,000 members. All you need is a Goodreads account to join. I know I am excited and those in the Twitter-verse seem to agree.

Twitter agrees that Emma's feminist book club is awesome.

Writer’s Joy Intro Post

I thoroughly enjoy writing, reading, blogging, and really anything related to expressing oneself through the written word. I am also learning to embrace other forms of expression, such as utilizing podcasts, YouTube channels, and Periscope, etc. In this section, I hope to share with you my various authored pieces that have been published in journals, anthologies, or on other platforms and websites. I will also share/review some of my favorite books that I think are worthwhile to read.
